Editor's review
This software tool is a XML editor. It also is a XSLT/ XQuery debugger and profiler.
Oxygen is a XML development system containing XML Editor, XSLT/XQuery debugger and a profiler built into one. It is fully Unicode compliant. The product supports visual XML editing. The editor is driven by CSS style sheets. It has a XML Author customized for content authors. It also has a good interface for XML editing and has only the relevant authoring features. The tool lets you look at the structure of a DTD, Relax NG or an XML Schema. XML and XSL documents can be easily associated one with the other and the results can be viewed as text or HTML. The interface could be a little daunting for the uninitiated. This tool is for hard core developers. But then with so many frames and panes in the interface it will take a little time for even such trained types to be completely familiar with the interface controls.
Oxygen provides a visual schema editor for W3C XML Schema and Relax NG schema. This tool will be able to validate XML, XSL, XQUERY, FO, XSD, RNG, RNC, DTD, Schematron, WSDL and CSS content. If you enable validate as you type, errors will be reported with the type of error, line number where it occurred. Latest Docbook DTD and stylesheets are included. In the debug mode, the interface layout changes and shows the source and the stylesheet documents side by side. It also shows results and special debugging views. The tool will let you use latest Xalan, Saxon 6 or Saxon 9 transformation engines to facilitate debug and profiling. Several features useful for development are available including a subversion client. This one is a great tool if you are involved with XML development.
